Icing Smiles Non-Profit Organization Raises Funds Using KidsKards

Icing Smiles is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide custom cakes and treats, free of charge, to children impacted by a critical illness. In order to raise funds for its operations, Icing Smiles is selling packages of note cards produced by KidsKards, an art based fundraising company. These cards feature full color photographs of the beautiful cakes that Icing Smiles has provided to some very deserving children.

For immediate release: Icing Smiles is a nonprofit organization that provides custom celebration cakes and other treats to families impacted by the critical illness of a child. In just two short years of operation, 2,700 volunteer bakers and 30 administrative volunteers have produced over 1200 cakes. These dedicated volunteers donate hundreds of hours a week to create sweet memories for medical families in all 50 states.

Icing Smiles understands that the simple things, like a birthday cake, are luxuries to a family battling illness. Their goal is to create a custom cake for the ill child, or their sibling, that provides a temporary escape from worry and creates a positive memory during a difficult time.

“Memories have magical powers,” according to Icing Smiles “Long after the cake is gone, the memories linger– memories of the kindness of a stranger, of the art of the design, of the sweet smells of a special treat, of the smiles and laughs, of a normal childhood experience so often stolen from these children.” These memories are why Icing Smiles says, “It is so much more than a cake.”

To help raise funds for its operations, Icing Smiles is working with KidsKards, an art based fundraising company. KidsKards is creating note cards featuring photographs of a sampling of the custom cakes that were created through Icing Smiles for some very deserving children. The cards will be packaged in sets of 20 and will be available for purchase from Icing Smiles in September.

For nearly a decade and a half, KidsKards has been helping non-profit organizations and schools to raise money by reproducing photographs and/or children’s artwork onto high quality note cards and calendars, which are then sold for a fundraising profit. “KidsKards has been in business for over 14 years, and we have a tremendous repeat following,” says owner Maria S. Leon. “Our focus is on high quality products and first-class customer service.”

According to Leon, KidsKards sets itself apart from the fundraising competition by helping organizations to increase their visibility, in addition to just raising funds. “Each card and calendar produced by KidsKards features the non-profit organization’s logo, mission statement, and contact information. This helps to advertise their organization to the hundreds or thousands of people who receive one of these cards or calendars”, Leon says, “It’s a ripple effect which potentially helps them to raise even more money to support the good work that they do.”

Good Shepherd Church in Cincinnati Teams with KidsKards to Raise Money for Honduras Project

KidsKards Offers Unique Form of Fundraising

For immediate release:  The Community of the Good Shepherd, a Catholic Parish of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, has pledged to raise $450,000 during a 3 year campaign in support of one of their main global charitable missions, in Intibucá,Honduras.

There are two components to the Honduras Project, 1) to partner with Shoulder to Shoulder (www.shouldertoshoulder.org) to build a bilingual school, which community leaders have identified as an urgent need, and 2) to help the Diocese of Santa Rosa del Copan foster the Catholic faith by assisting in the establishment of a rural parish rectory/training center, and providing materials and support for basic religious education and sacramental preparation for multiple parishes of Southern Intibucá.

To help raise funds for the Honduras Project, Good Shepherd has recently teamed up with KidsKards, an art based fundraising company.  KidsKards is producing general purpose note cards and Christmas cards for Good Shepherd to sell to their parish families and friends.  The cards will feature original artwork done by some of the children in Honduras who will benefit from the Honduras Project, as well as photos of the children and their country.  The cards will be packaged in sets of 20 and will be available for purchase through Good Shepherd beginning in early November.

For nearly a decade and a half, KidsKards has been helping non-profit organizations and schools to raise money by actively involving the children they support in the fundraising process.  The children can paint or draw their own artwork, which is then reproduced onto high quality note cards and calendars, and sold for a fundraising profit of up to 40 percent.

This helps to advertise their organization to the hundreds or thousands of people who receive one of these cards or calendars” Leon says, “It’s a ripple effect which potentially helps them to raise even more money to support the good work that they do.”
