We've helped other organizations and schools just like yours
meet their fundraising goals. Here are some easy tips to get
you on your way to success!
- Establish a Purpose
- Make it easy for parents and card-buying customers to
say "Yes!" to your program by defining where the money will
go. Is it to finance a student trip, new uniforms, a scholarship
fund, or to help a sick child? Include the goal in your
promotions and print it on the back of your cards.
- Set a Goal Amount
- Establish a goal based on your specific purpose. Keep
participants aware of your progress throughout the campaign
to maintain enthusiasm. Post updates on your Web site, in
your newsletter, or place posters in the hall or lunchroom
with the current amount raised. A bright red "thermometer"
works well. Let the child who sold the most cards that week
color in the new segment.
- Define a Theme or Event
- A central theme can add focus to your campaign and eliminate
the students' question, "What will I draw?" Tie the theme
to a current school topic such as dinosaurs or weather.
Seasons, holidays and special
events can also be fun for the artists. Flowers or animals
also make popular cards.
- Get Organized
- Assign activities like coordinating the artwork, promoting,
order taking, and delivering the finished cards to teachers,
volunteers, and parents. Make sure to request the existing database file of students names from your school for easy on-line ordering.
- Advertise and Promote
- Successful campaigns require promotion. Hang flyers and
posters and send them home with the kids, contact newspapers
and TV stations, and invite local businesses to participate
or ask them if they'll sell the cards near the cash register.
- Encourage "Pre-Ordering"
- Offer discounts or incentives for initial orders and request
payment at the time of order. This will help offset production
costs and create a positive cash flow.
- Distribute Widely
- Find opportunities to sell the cards outside your school
or organization and beyond the immediate participants and
their families. Gift shops, supermarkets, other clubs and
organizations may provide great opportunities, especially
when you have a worthwhile fundraising purpose the community
can support.
- Corporate promotions with KidsKards
- Here's a way to sell more cards while getting area companies
involved in your cause. Work with a local company representative
who usually purchases holiday cards - often a marketing
director, office manager or head of human resources - to
decide on a holiday motif. Your kids create the art and
the company purchases cards to send to their customers for
the holidays. You can offer the company a special message
inside the card, while the back indicates that the sale
of the cards helps your organization or special project.
It's a win-win solution for everyone: the company buys cards
that are more personal than the generic boxed cards on the
market, plus they show that they're involved in the community.
And your school or organization receives even more public
awareness for your important message.
